8. Crossbow

The Crossbow arrived in Season 2 of MW2.

The Crossbow has featured in several CoD games and it made a triumphant return in Modern Warfare 2 Season 2. Despite being a fun weapon to wield due to its unique nature, the Crossbow is certainly not the most competitive option.

The weapon requires elite accuracy and it’s difficult to take on multiple enemies at once given its bolt mechanic.

7. LM-S

In seventh place on our list is the LM-S Marksman Rifle, which is a semi-automatic rifle that has the best fire rate of all the weapons in the class.

The reason it’s almost last on the list is that it simply doesn’t pack enough punch in Modern Warfare 2’s multiplayer, especially at range, meaning you’ll need to put several bullets in a player to put them down.

6. EBR-14

The EBR-14 just edges it over the LM-S, as it’s also a semi-automatic rifle but it is much more consistent and has better accuracy, which can be key in long-range combat.

If you deck this EBR-14 out with the right attachments, it can be a two-shot kill from most ranges, making it a great choice for those looking to use a semi-automatic weapon.

5. TAQ-M

The TAQ-M is part of the powerful Tactique Verte platform

Next up is the TAQ-M, which is another semi-automatic rifle, but with a 6.5mm sniper round and modular design.

This means it is much more effective at range compared to the previous weapons, as well as having better mobility and accuracy. The TAQ-M is also very consistent at range, being a two-shot kill.

4. Lockwood MK2

In fourth place we have the Lockwood MK2, which can be difficult to use, but once mastered, it’s a one-shot machine on most maps and is even useful at close and medium range.

Its biggest downfall is the fire rate being a lever-action rifle, but this also makes it very satisfying to use, as once you master its rhythm, you’ll be taking foes down with ease.

3. Tempus Torrent

The Season 2 Reloaded update brought the Tempus Torrent.

Modern Warfare 2 players who have dabbled with Warzone in the past will recognize the Tempus Torrent, as it was dubbed the new DMR when it arrived in Season 2 Reloaded.

This hard-hitting Marksman Rifle excels in the hands of players with sharp aim. While it’s not the easiest Marksman Rifle to control, those who can master its recoil pattern and tame it will surely rack up kills in multiplayer matches.

2. SA-B 50

In second place we have the SA-B 50, which is one of the Marksman Rifle category’s bolt-action rifles.

The SA-B has excellent damage and accuracy, but its range and fire rate make it miss out on the top spot, as it just isn’t as consistent as the number one choice.

The SP-R 208 is perfect for quick-scoping in MW2.

The best Marksman Rifle in Modern Warfare 2 is no doubt the SP-R 208. This weapon has the best-in-class recoil control and accuracy, meaning you won’t miss a shot. It also has great damage and range.

The only thing that lets this weapon down is the fire rate, but if you’re hitting your shots, that isn’t much of a problem. The SP-R 208 is essentially a mini Sniper Rifle that is extremely mobile, making for a great quick-scoping weapon.
