With Baldur’s Gate 3 at the cusp of release, fans are excited to see the game’s take on respec mechanic. Thankfully, the game’s developers from Larian Studios have revealed a small amount as to how players can make use of it.
The full release of Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the most anticipated events of the year. One of the most exciting things about the game is all the character builds players can craft.
While creating a build is a long process and often thought out by the player, there can be times when they can get a few components wrong. This can often result in players wanting to tear everything down and reset certain areas of the build, like skills and abilities. This is where respeccing comes into play.
The respec mechanic allows players to reset every skill point they’ve earned and distribute them all over again, as per their preference. With many games, leaving out some of the best skills and abilities can go unnoticed, but with Baldur’s Gate 3 having deep ties with Dungeons and Dragons, none can go to waste.
Here’s how to respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3.
Baldur’s Gate 3 comes out in August.
Baldur’s Gate 3 character respec explained
In a recent live stream, Larian Studios confirmed that the respec mechanic would be a part of Baldur’s Gate 3. The mechanic will be available for every player when the game launches in August. During the livestream, Lead Designer Nick Pechenin said that the game’s team didn’t want players to start a new game halfway through the campaign as it is a “very heavy narrative experience.”
Keeping the respec mechanic as a simple feature is sure to be beneficial to several players, as it offers them the choice of changing things up whenever they want.
As to how the option to respec can be accessed, you’ll have to seek out a certain NPC along your journey who’ll help you respec your character. According to Pechenin, this particular NPC will allow you to “reset your class, and reinvest all of the levels.”
While this is all we know about how to respec your character in Baldur’s Gate 3, we’re sure to learn more as the full release of the game approaches. All we know for sure is that players must remember to keep an eye out for the mysterious NPC mentioned by the game’s Lead Designer.
