Mortal Kombat 1 gameplay details
Mortal Kombat fans can expect a similar style of gameplay to what the franchise is known for producing, bloody and gory 2D combat with an emphasis on finishing blows. The game will feature an “immersive story campaign” and an online mode where you can battle others.
Mortal Kombat 1 will also bring a new Kameo Fighter system, which presents a “unique roster of Kameo fighter partners” that players can choose to assist them in battle. Players will be able to call these fighters mid-battle to make longer combos, trigger special attacks, or break their opponent’s combo.
Once players pick their character, another selection screen will let them pick their Kameo fighter. While there are still a lot of details to be revealed, it seems like some characters will only be available as Kameo fighters and not main fighters. On the other hand, iconic characters, like Sub-Zero and Scorpion, will be available to pick in both stages.
As seen in the Summer Game Fest showcase, Kameo fighters will also be able to participate in Fatalities and X-Ray attacks, which brings a new layer of excitement for fans.
