Along with new anti-cheat measures for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2, the devs have revealed that there will be severe punishment for spamming reports.
Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 is a competitive experience that is sometimes hindered by those who like to cheat and hack.
Luckily, Call of Duty’s anti-cheat system, RICOCHET, often tracks down these cheaters and use different measures to impede hackers and stop them from ruining matches, much like what the hallucinations method is attempting to do.
One way players can help RICOCHET is through the reporting system, but unfortunately, some players feel the need to spam reports on players that may not even be cheating, and this can do more harm than good.
So, to counteract spam reporting, the devs revealed in their anti-cheat update blog that they have decided to add “malicious reporting” to their “Security and Enforcement Policy.”
What this essentially means is that those who “knowingly” submit false reports or spam report “legitimate players” may receive an account penalty, “up to and including warnings or permanent account suspension.”
In other words, if you spam report a player who is obviously not a cheater, you will receive a punishment that could potentially see you banned for a certain amount of time. The intention behind this is to prevent players from purposefully false reporting.
This also came along with some other changes such as “in-game notifications” being rewritten for more clarity, so that players can better understand whether an “action or investigation” is taking place.
Further, they also stated that adjustments are made to the automated penalties system, which includes restrictions to voice and text chat.
